Great War memorabilia, 1914-1918.

ArchivalResource

Great War memorabilia, 1914-1918.

The collection contains Australian Great War memorabilia including four cabinet photographs of Australian soldiers; and four postcards, 1916, received by Doris Rogers of Oatley, NSW, from soldiers abroad. A holiday greeting card sold to support the Australian Comforts Fund depicts the Australian advance from Villers-Brettonneux, 1918 April 24, by Will Longstaff, and the capture of Hamel, 1918 July 4 by A. Pearse. Smaller vignettes depict a German naval gun and a German tank captured by Australians. There is also a scrapbook, 1914-1918, compiled by Mollie Miles of newspaper stories concerning Australia's part in the Great War; and a diary 1918 January 25-March 19, probably kept by an officer on board H.M.A.T. Euripides on a voyage from Liverpool to Australia with troops returning from the war.
